This Low barrel is known as the Spine Corrector because one of its main applications is to support and correct imbalances in the spine. It also is used to stretch the tight muscles in the chest, shoulders and hips. The Spine Corrector helps balance muscles and develop a more nimble and flexible spine.
SPINE CORRECTOR (LOW BARREL): Arm Circles

Joseph Pilates recognized that the rounded upper back (hyperkyphosis) is a most common postural deviation. He designed a variety of exercise apparatus he named Spine Correctors that are barrel shaped which would give the client support during backward bending of the spine (spinal extension). Supported spinal extension gently stretches the spine backward and opens the front of the trunk. Adding the Arm Circles with light hand weights further increases the shoulders’ range of motion and conditions the deep stabilizing muscles.
