The
above All-American exercises were chosen from our Golf
Pilates program to introduce you to what classical pilates
exercises and equipment looks like and how we begin to
use it to address the physical requirements of a golfers
Address position. Just
one example of muscle imbalance that will hamper address
posture is over tight chest muscles. Tight pectoral muscles
pull the shoulders forward toward the sternum resulting
in an increase in the kyphotic curvature of the upper
and middle spine. This common postural deviation restricts
spinal rotation during all phases of the golf swing.
Stability of the legs and pelvis combined with core control
will maintain the spine in its natural curvatures (neutral
spine). If a golfer lacks the physical conditioning to
address the ball with proper form then all that comes
after the address will also be compromised and will lead
to injury.
